Onana set for Man Utd exit after Trabzonspor offer
Andre Onana has reportedly agreed to leave Manchester United in the coming days after Trabzonspor tabled a loan bid to sign the goalkeeper.
Onana has made 102 appearances for United since joining in July 2023, but appears to have lost his first-choice status under Ruben Amorim this season.
The 29-year-old has not started a Premier League game this season, with Altay Bayindir preferred in goal despite his largely inconsistent performances since arriving last season.
Onana’s only start of the campaign came in the Carabao Cup against Grimsby Town, but another error-strewn performance cast only more doubt on his long-term future at Old Trafford.
Along with that, the deadline-day signing of Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp might further impinge on Onana’s potential minutes this season.

United were initially happy to keep Onana and Bayindir at the club, but have now agreed terms on a loan deal with Trabzonspor after the Turkish club made an approach earlier in the week.
And widespread reports suggest that Onana has now agreed to make the move, and will travel to Turkey on Thursday once the two clubs have finalised his loan deal. The deal is said to be without a fee or option to buy and will ensure that Onana can play a part in Trabzonspor’s clash against Fenerbahce on September 14.
Onana’s departure marks the latest high-profile exit from Amorim’s squad in what has proved another busy summer rebuild.
Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho were all moved on with Rasmus Hojlund also shipped out to Napoli.
Back at United, Lammens and Bayindir are now expected to contest for the number-one shirt, although former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley says Amorim ‘cannot’ select Bayindir going forward due to his struggles dealing with set-pieces.
‘Altay Bayindir, they can’t play him,’ Burley, who won the FA Cup with Chelsea and also earned 46 caps for Scotland, said on ESPN.
‘He might be okay at shot-stopping which is what goalkeepers are paid for but he’s absolutely useless at dealing with balls in from set-pieces.
‘This new lad [Lammens] needs to be able to marshal a back four, make saves and have an authority and make a statement at set-pieces.
‘That’s what every team is going to do against United now, they’re going to launch balls into the box and the goalkeeper needs to be able to deal with it.
‘He’s either going to sink or swim. We don’t really know how he’s going to handle this scenario.’
